On Saturday, October 16, the Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes to the WOW Hall The Moon Is Flat, Creep Creep Janga and Broth.

Thunderous drums, screaming guitars, soaring vocals and spine tingling keys providing big waves of swirling rock music make The Moon is Flat an experience best taken in live and loud.

The Moon is Flat formed in 2015 by guitarist/vocalist Kirk Rutherford and drummer Thys (pronounced Tice) Ferwerda from the ashes of their previous band Shark the Herald.  After feeling out several different musicians to fill out the band, they released their debut album The Good Trip in 2017. But member turn over continued.  Guitarist Cayce Miller joined the band shortly after the release of The Good Trip, replacing the previous guitarist and remains with the band today.

Called one of Everett Washington's favorite Stoner Rock bands, The Moon is Flat continued playing shows for whatever crowds they could get in front of.  Making sure to play a different set list every time, their live show has been called "an experience".

Matt Wysocki (Bass) and Caleb Beal (Keys) eventually found their way into the fray, and with that line up they would go on to record their new album, All The Pretty Colors (2021).  Produced by Rutherford and recorded by Tim Wilson, The Moon is Flat were able to capture a great representation of their big and swirling live show.

Creep Creep Janga is heavy psychedelic stoner rock with wailing female vocals and fuzzed out instruments. CCJ brings an old and new take on heavy pysch rock.

“I asked the band members what they enjoyed the most of being a member of Creep Creep Janga; They responded with how wonderful and fun it is to play rowdy house shows with their close friends,” reports Ashley McMurray in Odyssey.  “When musicians are enjoying their performance, it’s obvious; Creep Creep Janga is no exception.”

Musical inspirations include Black Sabbath, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Sleep and Electric Wizard.   Band member Trevor says he is fortunate to have found musicians that, "I click with on a personal level and ended up being friends with before forming a band with them.  Creep Creep Janga was formed almost entirely as a sarcastic joke.”   Trevor has also been playing with the band Sacred Trees, on and off, for about ten years now.

When asked his favorite parts about the band, Harry eagerly said, “I love the freedom in the music and the way we can all float each other. I love how Judi’s voice grabs people and pulls them in. I love my band mates to death and creating something unique with them that I can listen to forever is really special.”

Broth is a 5-piece multi genre band from Eugene that formed in 2018. The group combines vibrant horns, rock/pop vocals with an almost ‘Modest Mouse’ delivery, keyboard/synth pop, and smooth R&B grooves to create a traditional organic aesthetic that still sounds modern and updated.

Here’s what fans are saying:

“Broth definitely has a distinct vibe that keeps you hooked on their songs.”

“The airtight grooves and wonderful horn section make up a great deal of the bands’ sonic character.”

“Broth’s slow-build, horns-a-plenty, groove-filled brand of R&B/rock and soul is infectious.”

Broth performed live at the WOW Hall in July as part of the virtual Community Village/Oregon Country “Fair in the Clouds”.
