Green Earth Ball Benefit for KEPW Community Radio and CCPA/WOW Hall with Marv Ellis, The Beat Crunchers and Matura & Bhakti Shakti

On Friday, April 20, join us for the Green Earth Ball, a benefit for our area's new community radio station 97.3FM KEPW aka Eugene PeaceWorks Community Radio and the historic WOW Hall/Community Center for the Performing Arts!
Celebrate community on Earth Day with a sample of our fabulous local musicians!
MARV ELLIS
Anyone in Eugene that really knows the music scene would recognize Marv Ellis as one of the most influential and important musicians coming out of the city in the last decade. Returning home from his tour in Guatemala, he will be performing a very rare and very special solo set packed with the classics from his last five albums. Any true Marv Ellis fan won’t want to miss this one, especially when he has the chance to celebrate a few of his favorite things -- community, his city, and the Earth.
THE BEAT CRUNCHERS
Fresh and funky, The Beat Crunchers get the booty shaking and keep it shaking with their mighty Brazilian percussion and exuberant horns. TBC take you on a breathless tour of the world's best dance parties, Afropop to Balkan to Cumbia. This is a band that turns everything it touches to a divine rug-cutting boogie-down, be it a childhood cartoon theme song or a funked-up Rachmaninov prelude. The Beat Crunchers resist boxes, and enable you lovely dancers to do the same.
MATURA & BHAKTI SHAKTI
Matura and Bhakti Shakti is a high powered and very unique Kirtan band from Eugene that incorporates elaborate guitar virtuosity with deep mantra songwriting and soaring flute melodies. Led by author, Ayurvedic teacher and radio host Matura Seva, this progressive Kirtan band delivers timeless wisdom with beautiful and lively Kirtan mantra power utilizing elements of Indian Classical music, folk, rock and Gypsy jazz.
"Music is ultimately a path of inner transformation. When the creative impulse is aligned with altruistic intentions, the pure creative expression can be dedicated as a form of divine service for the benefit of all beings,” states Matura.
It's an ALL AGES show; tickets are $10 in advance or $10-50 sliding scale at the door.
